Billy McNeill Charity Golf Day

Here at Battle Against Dementia we are proud to be hosting a Golf Day and Ball in honour of late Lisbon Lion and football legend, Billy McNeill who sadly passed away after suffering from Dementia.

This event has been organised in conjunction with the McNeill family and we have also been working with Panoptic Events to help make this day a great success for all involved.

All proceeds raised will go to help professional ex-footballers and their families who have been directly affected by Dementia.

A study of 7,676 ex-professional footballers commissioned by the Football Association AND THE Professional Footballer’s Association revealed that despite a number of health benefits from playing the sport that Scottish football players are three and a half times more likely to die from Dementia than the general population of a similar age and social status.

Dear all,

Further to the most recent government guidance regarding Coronavirus/COVID-19 we have been left with no option but to postpone the Billy McNeill – Battle Against Dementia Golf Day and Gala dinner due to take place on May 29th.

Everyone’s health and wellbeing is paramount so we will aim to reschedule for a similar time next year.

We would like to thank all of those who have committed to sponsorship packages, golf teams, seats at the dinner and to all that have worked tirelessly to put the event together.

On a positive note the extra time will allow us to make the event bigger and better than before!

Once again we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact myself at douglas@battleagainstdementia.org.

We hope you stay fit and healthy in the months ahead.

Thank you
