We are Battle Against Dementia

Battle Against Dementia (BAD) was founded in 2018 to support people in Glasgow and the west of Scotland who are directly affected by dementia.

Our key aim is to raise funds for a Dementia Hub. This is a place for people with dementia and their families, to enjoy activities and get information, support and advice. It will feature a music area, reminiscing movie area, indoor bowling and putting green, golf simulator rooms, coffee area, private meeting rooms and more. We need your help to make this a reality and to create this truly unique resource.

Symptoms and diagnosis

The progression of this disease will often depend on several factors including the support given, the physical make-up, emotional resilience and the type of dementia. The disease has a series of stages that you can use as a rough guide.

Our toolkits

For the family and carers of people with dementia, we want to offer support and respite so that they are equipped to cope with the devastating effects and the life changes they are facing.

Our Ambition

Our aim is to create a safe, enjoyable Dementia Hub where those with dementia and their loved ones can come and get support, enjoy their together and take part in activities that have been proven to make a difference.

Identifying the symptoms

Dementia describes a set of symptoms that prevents the body from functioning normally. These range from small changes such as memory loss and mood changes to more advanced changes including loss of speech, loss of memory and problems navigating daily life.

Helping dementia sufferers & their loved ones

Dementia is a progressive condition affecting the brain. With over 200 known types, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, frontotemporal dementia and mixed dementia, each person suffering from the condition will experience it in their own unique way. We are here to help them and their loved ones.

Our work is changing lives

There are over 90,000 people living with dementia in Scotland. At Battle Against Dementia we want to raise awareness, raise money for research and to create a Dementia Hub to support people coping with the reality of living with dementia.
